School Improvement Plan
Senior Leadership teams use a School Improvement Plan (SIP) as their main source of information to outline their strategic plans for the growth of their school. A school's stated principles will serve as the foundation for a school improvement plan, which outlines the steps and resources required to accomplish the goals.

School Improvement Plan Goals
Goal #1
Creating a Culture
By June 2026, Puyallup Online Academy (POA) will improve academic outcomes and student engagement for students off pace or failing courses, by implementing a data-driven, tiered intervention system through structured weekly PLCs. PLCs will use weekly progress monitoring to adjust Written Student Learning Plans (WSLPs), place students in appropriate support tiers, and increase student/family intervention meetings by at least 25% compared to the 2024–25 school year.
Goal #2
Planning With Data
By June 2026, Puyallup Online Academy (POA) will improve academic achievement and student engagement in core content areas for students in grades K–2, 3–5, and 9 by expanding and refining homeroom cohort programs and targeted lab instruction.
The school will aim to:
- Reduce the percentage of 9th graders entering 10th grade credit-deficient in Algebra I by 20%,
- Increase passing rates for students attending at least 75% of lab sessions by an additional 10%, and
- Increase consistent academic engagement among K–5 students placed in math and ELA intervention cohorts, as measured by assignment completion and online platform activity.
Goal #3
Closing the Gap
By June 2026, Puyallup Online Academy (POA) will increase credit recovery (CR) participation, engagement, and course completion for eligible high school students (grades 10–12) by
implementing structured 6-week CR cycles, weekly check-ins, and optional test-out assessments. The goal is to ensure that at least 85% of students enrolled in CR complete 0.5 credits per cycle, and that all CR students participate in weekly progress check-ins, with improved early credit recovery outcomes leading to reduced end-of-year credit deficiency rates.
