Puyallup Parent Partnership
Are you interested in an Alternative Learning Experience? The Puyallup Parent Partnership Program (P4) understands that with the right environment, Kinder through 8th grade children will enjoy learning.
At P4, we provide a dynamic, flexible learning environment tailored to meet the needs of diverse learners. Unlike the traditional school setting, our online and at home platform empowers students to thrive in a way that suits their individual strengths and circumstances.
Objective and Classroom Setting
P4's primary objective is to offer an alternative learning environment for students and families seeking an experience beyond our traditional brick and mortar buildings. In this setting, we provide academic courses, virtual support, in-person classes, flexibility, autonomy, and opportunities for student independence, all while fostering social engagement in various activities for students and their families.
The traditional classroom isn't the best fit for every child. That's why we offer a certified teacher to support parents in guiding their student’s learning in grades K-8 at home through diverse learning models.
In-Person Days
P4 provide one in-person class day each month to help foster peer relationships and provide hands-on opportunities. This approach empowers families to create a tailored educational experience that meets their child's unique needs.
Family Community Outing
Every month, P4 provides opportunities for a family member to join their student on an educational-based experience out in the community, giving them an opportunity to connect learning with real-world experiences, strengthen family engagement, and explore local resources that support student growth and success.
Who Might Benefit from the P4 Program?
- Self-Motivated Learners: Students who take initiative and enjoy setting their own pace excel in our flexible structure.
- Independent Thinkers: If your student enjoys working independently and diving deep into subjects that interest them, they'll find the perfect balance of guidance and autonomy here.
- Students with Unique Schedules: Whether your child is pursuing athletic goals, or encountering other life situations, our adaptable schedule allows them to balance academics and their goals seamlessly.
Want to Enroll?
-
Current Puyallup School District Students: Enrollment for current students is closed. However, students who have unique circumstances requiring consideration should speak with your school counselor. Counselors can submit referrals as appropriate. All referrals will be reviewed by the PDL team to determine if space and support capacity are available. Families will be contacted if enrollment can move forward.
- New Students: New student enrollment for this program is currently closed. We will begin reviewing the PDL pre-enrollment survey and new student enrollment applications for the 2nd semester, beginning Wednesday, January 28, 2026. Families who wish to complete this process now will have their submissions held contacted in mid-January with the next steps.
- New In-District Students: Visit the Puyallup School District Registration webpage for new student enrollment steps.
- New Out-of-District Families: Complete the PDL pre-enrollment survey. After reviewing the survey, the PDL team will then determine whether they can serve the student. If approved, enrollment documents will be sent electronically.
Track Descriptions
Students can choose one of these tracks listed below. Both tracks include the partnership of a P4 teacher, along with in-person days and community outing opportunities.
Alternative Learning Experience (ALE)
Alternative Learning Experience (ALE) programs give students the flexibility to learn in a non-traditional setting.
The state requires that students in an ALE program demonstrate engagement by working diligently on their courses and make weekly reciprocal contact which occurs through weekly attendance.
Attendance Laws
While students have the ability to do most of their schoolwork at home to demonstrate progress, attendance is still a state requirement. After the second unexcused absence, state law requires that the school have a conference with the parent or guardian and the student to discuss the barriers to school attendance (State Compulsory Attendance Law, Section 28A.225.RCW).
We are committed to helping all students be successful. We are asking for your help so that we are meeting the state requirements for our ALE program and meeting the needs of all our students.
